At current retail prices, the B550 Tomahawk is a much better value than the launch MSRP. It has a fairly standard feature set, but is unfortunately lacking in I/O in comparison to similarly priced AM4 motherboards.

Pros:

  • aesthetics; I like the industrial look of the heatsinks.
  • storage; 2x M.2 slots, 6x SATA ports
  • Flash BIOS button
  • internal USB-C header for case I/O
  • power delivery; 10 phase 60A power stage VRM
  • audio; Realtek ALC1220P Codec

Cons:

  • lackluster rear I/O; only 5x USB-A ports and dual LAN ports, space that otherwise could have been used for additional USB ports.
  • lack of dedicated Clear CMOS button
  • no onboard WiFi / Bluetooth

OK, for the price it should really come with WIFI, but its not a deal breaker.

Only nitpick is that I wish it had a few more USB headers. Otherwise, great motherboard if you know you won't need bluetooth or Wifi.

Great MOBO, lots of fan headers and beefy heatsinks. Only reason its not 5* is MSI RGB kinda sucks, but it gets the job done.

An amazing budget AM4 Motherboard. Capable of even using a ryzen 9, of course I'm running a Ryzen 7 3700x. The motherboard looks great and the M.2 drive slots are fast as hell when paired with some great M.2 Drives. Only issiue I have is lack of Bluetooth and Wifi.

Few quirks for setup, USB seemed to be VERY drive specific. Ram installed as 2400MHz, but after viewing video on YouTube found out how to enable XMP Profile 1. The manual that comes with the board could be better.

Decent budget board, should've gone with WiFi / Bluetooth model as I had to buy a USB bluetooth dongle to use things like controllers and wireless mice.

Awesome mobo in general, it has everything you'd want including USB-C front headers. Very good for a B550 board. Although, MSI's Windows software is utter ****. Docked a star for that. Don't use it and you'll be fine.

great board, meh RGB, does everything it says it can do. I ran a bios upgrade before I booted it for the first time so I dont know if it was necessary. works great now.
